Marie Atkins Shelter for the Poor - Driving Instructions

The Poor Relief Department of the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew is a welfare agency of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation.

We provide breakfast feeding support every last Saturday of the month, at 8:30AM.
All Friendly lodge members are encouraged to attend; it really adds a special dimension to the event. 

The Center is located at 65 Hanover Street.
It is on the left, going up Hanover street; past the first road on the left and it is the next entrance on the left.

The entrance is a faded blue and red wall, with a small entrance.
There is parking  available inside for at least 10 cars.

There are 2 easy ways to get there.

 

From East Street

  1. Go down East Street, from Heroes Circle, past the Gleaner Company 
  2. At the intersection with East Queen Street, turn LEFT. 
    (It is the intersection where Central Police Station is)
  3. The next LEFT is Hanover street.
  4. Go UP Hanover Street for about 50 yards
  5. You will see the faded blue and red wall on the LEFT, #65
    and a small entrance gate with a sign saying Emergency Shelter.
  6. Turn in there and park inside.

From South Camp Road

  1. Go down South Camp Road, past the Central Post Office 
  2. At the intersection with East Queen Street, turn RIGHT. 
  3. You will pass a number of roads on the right, and eventually
    be able to see the top of the fountain at parade approaching.
    (If you pass the big brick wall on the right, Central Police, you've gone too far!)
  4. Turn RIGHT on Hanover street.
  5. Go UP Hanover Street for about 50 yards
  6. You will see the faded blue and red wall on the LEFT, #65
    and a small entrance gate with a sign saying Emergency Shelter.
  7. Turn in there and park inside.
